With the Superdome in our rear view mirror, we headed east for Atlanta, mission accomplished. It was a gray, rainy drive home, but made without incident.
And it’s back to life here rather than there. I started to use the cliche “back to real life,” but truly, life in New Orleans can be as real as it gets, and it felt trite. During our 3 days of mission there, we served a day school and residence for intellectually disabled adults, a 70-year old woman who will finally be able to move into her Katrina damaged house after 10 years, a group house for HIV/AIDS infected individuals and finally, all the citizens of New Orleans who will be able to enjoy the beauty of the holiday season at City Park.
I managed to post every day, and since I’m back, I’ll be able to resume reading the posts of my fellow yeahnomo participants.
And now, on the couch in my comfy pjs, I’m ready to watch the Cowboys-Eagles game. Go Cowboys!!
