My heart breaks for those in Paris. And it breaks for those in Syria, and the rest of the Middle East. And for those in Africa and China. And for all refugees trying to find a home away from home, just for a little while. I say my prayers.
I believe that good will triumph over evil. Maybe not tomorrow, or next month, or next year, but it will happen. Light follows the dark, and hope is in the light.
In the meantime, life goes on. In the United States, we watch our college football, go to parties, concerts, dinner with friends. We take our pets to the vet, sit with friends and loved ones in the hospital, mourn our losses. We connect with our community and share our humanity.
We hug our kids a little tighter. We sit in stillness and reflect, evaluating and re-evaluating what is important, and what isn’t. We promise to be kinder.
Hope and peace.
