Sirens blaring, they hunkered down in the shelter until the “all clear”. They emerged with blinking eyes and found a neighborhood unrecognizable, everything demolished. What havoc Mother Nature can wreak. Grateful that this time nobody died, they will fix the broken things.
I’ve never had to deal with anything like that, just an occasional hurricane nearby with nothing worse than fallen branches. I liked how you captured the gratitude that no lives were lost. That must be so frightening for people to cope with.

Oh, does “this time” hint at backstory or foreshadowing? Those two words made this dark post even darker for me.

We hear about tornadoes here in Alabama all the time, and, thankfully, I’ve not been in one. But the images are so devastating. Well done

I’m right next door in Georgia, and after Alabama is done with their tornadoes y’all send them to us. Thankfully, I’ve never been in one either.

You can’t let stuff breaking stop you. You just clean up and move on. I like it.

That would be so devastating. I lived in tornado alley for 25 years and just being in those storm cellara was frightening enough without the mass wreckage.
